The Patterson Historical Society's 1854 R. F.
O'Connor map is on loan from the Historical Society
and on display at the Patterson Town Hall. (Hours-
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday)
The rare O'Connor map is the entire (original) map of
all of Putnam County. The map is unique because it is
a complete map of Putnam County and it is the only
map that shows actual houses and out buildings. The
time period of the map is also interesting because this
was right when trains had come to Patterson and it
shows the changes that were starting to happen as
old blended with the new.
The map that was orginally donated by Mrs. Pugsley
to the Patterson Historical Society is also what map
collectors would consider a beautiful map, due to the
elaborate art work on the sides and the pretty
compass rose.
The map is exhibited on the wall in the Main
Entrance of the Town Hall for all to appreciate and to
learn more about the history of our area.
